Introducing Acer’s Predator X27 4k G-Sync HDR Gaming Monitor
In January 2017, Acer announced that they would be releasing a new line of Predator monitors. Flash-forward to 2018 and the first of these new monitors is months away from hitting the market. Unveiled during Acer’s 2018 Next@Acer conference, the new monitor has been hailed as the best of the best. Dubbed the Acer Predator X27, the latter monitors is packed with all the features that a gamer needs. One of the monitor’s bestselling features is its 4K resolution with a 144 Hz refresh rate. On top of that, the monitor comes with a built-in Tobii eye-tracking technology.
The image quality of Acer One of the most important things to gamers is the image quality. Luckily, given its hi-tech features, the Acer X27 does not disappoint. With 100% sRGB, 99% Adobe RGB and 96% DCI-P3 color, the colors appear consistent and vibrant. Combine this with 1000 nits of brightness and a higher contrast ratio and you have a truly out of this world gaming experience. Needless to say, all these features will require a lot of power from your computer. In fact, very few computers are able to keep up with the demands of this monitor. Currently, there is no GPU available that can comfortably cope with the full potential of this beast.
Design and features
The design aesthetics of this monitor remain a closely guarded secret. However, it is fair to say that this IPS quantum dot panel will feature 115 mm height adjustment as well as +/- 45 degrees swivel. It is not known whether the monitor will be VESA mount compatible. What is known; however, is that the monitor will come with an HDMI 2.0 port and will feature the Nvidia G-sync technology. There is also 1 display port 1.4. With regards to response time, the monitor comes with an impressive 4 Ms refresh rate and LED local dimming. In terms of resolution, the display has an impressive resolution of 3840 x 2160 and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
The retail price of this monitor is also unknown. However, given the price of other similar products such as the Asus MG248Q and Asus ROG swift, it will be somewhere around the $3000 price mark. As for the release date, Acer is yet to give a precise release date. However, it is widely expected that the company will release this monitor sometime in the third quarter of the year. For now, all you can do is wait or try out the Asus ROG Swift or another 144 Hz 4 K display.
Given its hi-tech features, the Acer Predator x27 is set to change the gaming industry, thankfully for good. It will bring video games to life thanks to its high brightness and fantastic contrast ratio. In essence, it will revolutionize the way people view their favorite games. And despite the fact that it will strain even the best GPU out there, there is no denying its quality. Therefore, be prepared to upgrade your GPU or get a second one to be able to enjoy this display. In addition to the x27 Predator, Acer is also set to release a new curved display, the Z271UV with a 2560×1440 resolution and can be overclocked to 165 Hz.
